About Chantelle Henocq

Ceramic sculptures packed with a nostalgic flavour

Artist wearing glasses and blue gloves paints a yellow ceramic object in a colorful studio.

I make ceramic sculptures packed with a nostalgic flavour, inspired by the popular culture and everyday objects of my childhood.

Familiar things, made to spark memories

From packets of Scampi Fries and Tunnock’s Teacakes to salty bar snacks, the chewing gum you were never allowed, and lovingly made cassette mixtapes, my small, hand-built sculptures celebrate the familiar. These objects are designed to evoke memories, spark recognition and invite conversation.

My background

With a background in graphic design, packaging and illustration, my work explores ideas around consumerism and the role that guilty pleasures and everyday objects play in contemporary life. I’m interested in the things we consume, collect and remember — and the unexpected emotional connections we form with them.

How each piece is made

Each sculpture is hand-built using earthenware clay and individually decorated with underglazes, giving every piece its own character and sense of nostalgia.
